These pages show some models I have made that explore aspects and characteristics of regular polyhedra.
Cube Octahedron made from wooden balls

A Cubeoctahedron or Snub Cube [Six squares and 8 regular triangles] made in card with edge flaps that project to a sphere.

ICOSAHEDRON from wooden balls

An Icosahedron [12 equal triangles] made in card with edge flaps that project to a sphere.

These models are woven together. They are made up of the 6 & 10 great circles of the icosa/dodecahedrons [blue and cyan coloured cardboard strips]. The form defines a sphere after the first 5 strips are woven together. The six cyan coloured strips are threaded in after the ball is made. The size of the ball is defined by the width of the strips.

This shows a model where 10 great circles are woven with doubled-up strips.
